A specialist in veterinary surgery (a “veterinary surgeon”) has fulfilled the requirements to be
board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, including a 3-year residency and a rigorous examination.


A veterinary surgeon has extensive training in performing surgery on animals, including soft tissue, neurologic and orthopedic surgery, as well as having an extensive knowledge of musculoskeletal disease conditions.
